Nicholas Allen

'This is the Cotswolds of which exiles dream, ancient stones hung with wild rose and hawthorn, set in valleys of deepest green and full of the smell of cut grass.' Simon Jenkins writing about Eastleach in England's Thousand Best Churches (Penguin, 1999)
Experienced local historian, Nick Allen, spent two years researching and writing this new history of Eastleach Turville and Eastleach Martin and their hinterland. Nick has drawn on documents in the Gloucestershire Records Office, published sources and from many in-depth conversations and correspondence with villagers, past and present. The result is a major contribution to the local history of a beautiful and much-loved village from the earliest times to around 1950, bringing together for the first time information from many varied sources.

Eastleach: A History of a Cotswold Village has an Introduction by Dr Kate Tiller, Reader Emeritus in Local History at the University of Oxford. The book also includes an index of people and black and white illustrations throughout, many of them drawn specially for this book by the author.
